Do not assume burning is permitted. Check the provincial status for your location and category before starting any fire. Local municipal bylaws may impose additional restrictions.

Category 1 fires

Check the government's Burning Restrictions each day. Category 1 burning is never permitted between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM during fire season, regardless of the published status.

Categories 2, 3 and 4

A valid burning permit is required. Check PEI's Fire Weather Index guidance each day and meet all permit conditions before burning.

PEI generally updates the daily restrictions at approximately 2:00 PM during fire season. The official PEI phone line provides updated conditions. This site does not publish or independently verify live permission to burn.
